Geckeler Michels is a design studio established in 2013 by David Geckeler and Frank Michels. The German-Luxembourgish design duo creates products for Ewo, Fredericia, Karimoku, Muuto, Nespresso, Sancal and Tecta amongst others. Areas of work include creative direction, furniture, lighting, products and spaces. The studio’s approach is research-oriented, engaging in autonomous in-house studies, creative direction, and product collections for clients.
Geckeler Michels explores product functionality around human habits, with a forecasting eye on ever evolving
usages and ways of expression. Their functionalist approach often incorporates intriguing details or logics, infusing the products with compelling narratives that stand the test of time.
Their work has been showcased in venues such as the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, Bauhaus Archiv Berlin,
Reform Design Biennale Copenhagen, and at the Awazu Residence in Kawasaki-Kanagawa. The design duo has been
honoured with accolades including Red Dot Award, Big See Award, Muuto Talent Award, Becker Design Award,
Newcomer Nominee for German Design Award.
